TRIP HIGHLIGHTS:
Add a one day tour (9 hours) to the most spectacular site of Upper Egypt. Housing the Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Hathor, the Abu Simbel complex is not to be missed.
The Temple of Ramses II, recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site since 1979 and sits just over four stories tall. Discover the unique feature of the temple that has been delighting international engineers for centuries and about the remarkable feat to save the temple from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, created with the building of the Aswan Dam. The temple was built to acknowledge Ramses II as sitting amongst three of the great gods of Ancient Egypt; Amun Ra, the sun god, Ptah, the god of creation and Ra-Horakhty, the god of morning sun.
The neighboring Temple of Hathor, the goddess of love and motherhood was built for Nefertari, the most beloved of all of Ramses II wives and his true love. Hathor was the wife of god Amun Ra and thus the two temples symbolically link the Sun God and his beloved wife to Ramses the Great and his beloved wife. A true love story that is witnessed throughout Egypt.
